Alteams Group increases effectiveness with IBM Lotus Sametime
Founded in 1943, Alteams Group in Finland is one of the biggest light metal foundries in Europe and employs a staff of approximately 1,700. Globally, Alteams Group is the biggest supplier of cast light metal components and is supplied to telecommunication, automotive, electronics, manufacturing and meditech industries. The company also offers design and tooling services as well as manufactured products using pressure die, sand, shell mould, gravity die and low pressure die casting technologies. The company’s product applications include control units with requirements for environmental and electronic tightness and RF filters, including various plating solutions, heat sinks and chassis. The company has operations in Finland, Sweden, Estonia, China and India. Alteams Group operates as a subsidiary of Kuusakoski Group.
Operating in diverse locations globally and within Finland, Alteams Group needed a solution that enabled its business units to communicate effectively while reducing expenses. The new IBM Lotus Sametime Standard software provides Alteams Group employees improved communication capabilities and effectiveness. Travel costs were reduced due to the arrangement of online meetings and the presence-awareness functionality made it easier to reach colleagues with less time spent searching for the appropriate contacts. The company also saw increased speed with its business processes by using the instant messaging functionality within Lotus Sametime Standard software, while decreasing the number of e-mails.
